Canon firmware recall

If you own a Canon 7D Mark II, you’ll want to read about this to see if it’ll affect you. I haven’t been and don’t foresee I will be affected since I use a wireless router for my wireless shooting. You can read about my setup HERE.

To read up about the recall on Canon’s Europe site, its HERE.

Picked up my 7D Yesterday…

Ok, picked up the 7D, all is good. It only took 3 business days, as opposed to the quoted 7. Also, the repair ticket states they changed the shutter assembly (3 months warranty) as opposed to the mirror box assembly as stated in the estimates ticket. No biggie for me, as long as the final cost is close to the estimate.

If you want to hear the screeching check out the original post HERE

This time its my 7D that’s gimped

While shooting a gymnastics competition today, out of the blue my 7D starts making scrapping / grinding noises every time I press the shutter button. More accurately something that needs to move to capture an image is having a difficult time because it’s rubbing against something else. Have no clue what it is and its Sat. today. I have to shoot the 2nd half of the competition tomorrow (my daughters competiting) and Canon is closed today so I can’t send it in and get a loaner. DAMN IT!

Can’t find anything on Google. Will send in the 7D on Monday and report back what they say about it.

In the meantime, maybe I’ll just hang out up top and shoot 400mm with my 5DII.
