Gardens by the Bay – Sunflower Theme

So I dropped by the Gardens by the Bay the other day because I saw a brochure advertising their sunflower display and thought it should be interesting, it was. Not only was there plenty of different looking sunflowers but it also had a small Wizard of Oz theme too.

The Gardens by the Bay is a park in Singapore that not only hosts the “Supertree” grove but also the two enclosed botanical gardens. One has an indoor waterfall and skywalk while the other hosts themed floral arrangements. If you like this sort of thing and visiting Singapore I suggest you take a look at their website to see if the theme fits your fancy. Here’s their link http://www.gardensbythebay.com.sg/en.html

I was looking forward to seeing sunflower seeds in the flowers as I’ve never seen them that way before but no, there weren’t any seeds anywhere. My disappointment didn’t last long as there were so many other things to see and I actually didn’t know there were so many different varieties of sunflowers. My wife and daughter really enjoyed it too as there weren’t many people around (we went in the morning) and those that were there, were relatively conscientious about getting into other people’s shots. Here’s a few more shots…

“Your Exhibition Shot” – New Moment Gallery

Thank you, Gurushots, for selecting my image, “Near Miss” for your upcoming exhibition on Oct 5th, 2018 at the New Moment Gallery in Belgrade, Serbia.

4 F-16’s crossing paths

New score to start the season

Ok so today is the first pre season hockey game for my fav team, the Vancouver Canucks! Man oh Man how I’ve missed watching hockey!

Anyways, what’s truly amazing, is while I was walking around one of the many malls in Singapore, I saw this shop that’s full of Funko Pop Figures. Funko Pop makes these chibi (large head, short/small body) figures of, originally, cartoon/anime/comic/game characters but have since expended to include tv/movie and sports characters. Although I’ve seen wrestling and NBA players, this is the first time I’ve seen NHL players. As I walked past, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a hockey figurine so I went to take a look. It was only as I was reaching for this hockey figure (I can’t even remember who it was supposed to be), I saw this Bo Horvat figure right next to it! If you don’t know, I’m a huge Vancouver Canucks fan and Bo is one of my fav players. I grabbed it and went straight to the cashier I have been a bit too excited as the cashier kept looking at me strangely. Only after paying, did it occur to me that I should look for other Canucks players too. There weren’t any but that’s ok, I’m really happy with my loot!ย Here’s some out of box shots:

Now this might not seem like such a big deal, but over here when you say hockey it generally means grass hockey. Just like when you say football here it means soccer (like in Europe). So yeah finding anything relating to ice hockey is exciting for me. I’m taking this unexpected score as an omen for an awesome season. Today’s loss is just growing pains for all the youngsters we got (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it, lol). I think this Bo Horvat figure will look awesome beside my Henrick Sedin bobble head figure that I got from attending a game last March. GO! Canucks, GO!
