Air Show tips

Last weekend I got to shoot an air show in Singapore. It was pretty cool to say the least.

In my rush I forgot to bring water or anything to drink, a hat (had a buff tho) and sunscreen. Don’t know what a buff is? Check it out at www.buffwear.com I got like 5 now and almost never leave home without one.

I had to pay out the nose for drinks so that sucked. The absolute worst is this:

Thats what my arms, neck, face and legs look like and 5 days later it still hurts and itches. Yes that is a watch tan. I’m a fair skinned asian, well, I was.
Having processed and submitted my photos, I’ve since been pondering the event and have come up with these non camera ‘notes to self’ for similar ‘no shade’ events:

1) Bring my Tilley (www.tilley.com) medium brim hat. and buff of course.
2) If I’m going single bag then I won’t bring sunscreen but will wear a long sleeved rash guard or something similar. Plus a light jacket, it came in handy. I used my jacket to sit on and as a shade to prevent my cameras from getting super hot.
3) Bring a water bottle big enough to fit at least two bottle drinks. Preferably full.
4) Bring a lcd loupe so I can chimp when theres no action or take video if theres too much action. Even at full brightness I could barely see whats on the lcd.

Well, thats all I got for now, if you some tips, please feel free to share in the comments below.
